Abstract
The objective diagnosis of low back disease is one of the greatest challenges facing clinicians.
Abnormalities of segmental intervertebral motion have been associated with degenerative change of disc.
We measured the segmental intervertebral motion in normal and low back patients using
flexion and extension film and followings are the results.
1. The range of motion in L4-5 of low back patients showed the significant increase in
3rd, 4th, 5th decade.
2. In L5-Si; because of bony architecture and intact iliolumbar ligament, the mobility showed decreasing tendency with aging.
3. The flexion-extension lateral film is useful in objective diagnosis of low back diseases.
